Acne scars · Shimbashi & Ginza
Pitted texture, open pores and the pigmentation left behind are treated differently from active acne. Four approaches are used here — microneedling, laser, peeling and prescribed medication — and which one fits depends on the kind of scarring you have. Male patients only.
Acne scar treatment starts at a ¥5,000 Dermapen 4 trial at Shinbashi Ginza Swift Clinic in Shimbashi, Tokyo. A full Dermapen 4 session is ¥18,000 including topical vitamin C and five sessions ¥85,000. Laser is ¥10,000 a session and ¥70,000 for five; peeling is ¥8,000 and ¥35,000 for five. Velvet Skin — Dermapen with mesotherapy — is ¥13,000 as a trial. Topical anaesthetic is ¥9,000. All of it is self-pay.

Oral and topical medication is also prescribed for acne scarring; ask at the consultation. Dermapen 4, Velvet Skin and the topical anaesthetic are the same prices as on our skin page, which covers acne, redness and pigmentation together — this page goes into the scarring specifically. Laser and peeling prices are listed here.
Dermapen 4. Sixteen needles make micro-punctures in the dermis that are too small to see, and the skin's own healing response rebuilds from there. It is the one used for fine lines, open pores and the pitted texture acne leaves. Ours includes topical vitamin C to push the change in skin quality further.
Laser. The Gentlelase laser uses a specific wavelength to act on the sebaceous glands behind the acne and moderate excess sebum. The heat reaching the deeper skin encourages collagen to rebuild, and at the same time it reduces melanin deposition and redness. It is the one that suits inflamed acne and scarring that has left pigmentation.
Peeling and medication. Chemical peeling works on the surface; oral and topical medication is prescribed alongside where appropriate. Which combination fits is decided at the consultation after the doctor has looked at your skin.
You can be seen here without speaking Japanese. Consultations are handled with a translation app and written notes rather than by an English-speaking doctor, which works well for treatments where the decision is straightforward — repeat prescriptions, testing, hair removal — and is slower where you have a complicated history to explain. Treatment information, pricing and access details on these pages are in English. The booking system and the pre-visit questionnaire are in Japanese, so message us on LINE beforehand if you would like help completing them.
At this clinic, a Dermapen 4 trial is ¥5,000, a full session ¥18,000 including topical vitamin C and five sessions ¥85,000. Laser is ¥10,000 a session and ¥70,000 for five; peeling is ¥8,000 and ¥35,000 for five. It is self-pay, so Japanese national health insurance is not required for the fees listed here.
Dermapen 4 makes micro-punctures so the skin rebuilds itself — it is used for pitted texture, open pores and fine lines. Laser acts on the sebaceous glands and reduces pigment deposition and redness — it suits inflamed acne and scarring that has left brown marks. Which one fits your scarring is decided at the consultation.
It is gradual. Change is judged over a course of sessions and months rather than overnight, and how much changes varies between people.
Expect redness resembling mild sunburn for a day or two, sometimes with flaking afterwards. Plan it around anything you need to look presentable for, and keep sun exposure down while the skin recovers.
Microneedling is uncomfortable rather than painful for most people. Topical anaesthetic is available at ¥9,000 if you would rather not find out.
One minute from Shimbashi Station, a short walk from Ginza. Male patients only, and consultations are held in a private room.
