Laser lifting for a jawline that has lost its edge

A long-pulse Nd:YAG laser reaches the dermis and the tissue below it, and the heat prompts the skin to firm from underneath. Twenty minutes, nothing cut, male patients only.

How it works

Laser, not ultrasound

The device is Clarity Twin, a long-pulse Nd:YAG laser. The long pulse lets the energy reach the dermis and the subcutaneous tissue rather than stopping at the surface. The heat stimulates fibroblasts, which in turn produce collagen and elastin, and the tissue contracts under the laser — so the firming comes from underneath rather than from anything being pulled or cut.

It runs at high power but with comparatively little load on the skin, and it tightens pores as well as lifting. Clarity Twin is often used as a hair-removal laser; it is used here for lifting because it reaches that depth.

This is the laser route. We also do HIFU, which uses focused ultrasound and works over a longer interval — three to four months rather than a short course. Which suits you depends on what is sagging and how deep it sits, and that is decided at the consultation.

What it is aimed at

  • Slackness around the cheeks that blurs the jawline.
  • Sagging and fine lines around the eyes.
  • Skin that has lost its firmness.
  • Wanting something done without a treatment you expect to hurt.

What you need to know

Important information

  • This is a laser treatment: temporary redness and warmth in the treated area are expected, and how much changes varies between people.
  • Treated skin is more sensitive to sunlight. Sun protection between sessions is part of the treatment, not an optional extra.
  • Male patients only. Consultations and treatment are in a private room, and the doctor is male.
  • All treatments on this page are self-pay (自由診療). Japanese national health insurance does not apply, and the full amount is charged at the clinic.
  • Prices shown include consumption tax and are the prices at the time of writing. They can change without notice — the price confirmed at your consultation is the one that applies.
  • Any procedure carries some risk. A doctor checks your history and current medication beforehand, and will decline to treat where it is not safe to do so.

Coming as an English speaker

You can be seen here without speaking Japanese. Consultations are handled with a translation app and written notes rather than by an English-speaking doctor, which works well for treatments where the decision is straightforward — repeat prescriptions, testing, hair removal — and is slower where you have a complicated history to explain. Treatment information, pricing and access details on these pages are in English. The booking system and the pre-visit questionnaire are in Japanese, so message us on LINE beforehand if you would like help completing them.

FAQ

Common questions

How much does non-surgical face lifting cost in Tokyo?

At this clinic, ¥15,000 for a full face and ¥19,800 with the neck. A course of three is ¥35,000 for the face, ¥48,000 with the neck. It is self-pay, so Japanese national health insurance is not required for the fees listed here.

How long does a session take?

About 20 minutes. Nothing is cut, so there is no incision to recover from. How long it takes in your case depends on the area and the state of the skin.

What is the difference between this and HIFU?

Different energy and different depth. This is a long-pulse Nd:YAG laser reaching the dermis and the tissue below it. HIFU is focused ultrasound aimed at the collagen layer, priced per area and repeated every three to four months. Which one suits you is decided at the consultation.

Does it hurt?

It is done without cutting, which is the part people worry about. Temporary redness and warmth in the treated area are expected. Tell the doctor if it is uncomfortable.

Can it be done on a first visit?

Possibly. Treatment can be done at the same visit once the doctor has examined the skin and confirmed it is suitable; otherwise it is booked for a later date. Because this is self-pay there is no first-visit surcharge.
