What the medicine is

As a short-acting SSRI, it affects serotonin involved in ejaculation. Its action differs from erection-supporting PDE5 inhibitors. It cannot be described as a premature-ejaculation medicine approved in Japan.

Treatment limitations and when diagnosis is needed

Time to ejaculation and satisfaction vary between individuals; a multiple of benefit cannot be guaranteed for everyone. Do not repurpose it for ED, reduced libido or depression. Psychological or relationship factors and other diseases are assessed when necessary.

Medication information

Formulations and basic directions

HPRA’s Priligy information usually gives 30 mg with ample water 1–3 hours before intercourse, no more than once within 24 hours. It is not a daily maintenance medicine and is not started at 60 mg. This does not establish that SWIFT’s Poxet is the same product; confirm actual strength and dose with the clinic.

Medication information

Timing of response and decisions about continuation

Assess effects and side effects from the first dose. HPRA advises benefit-risk assessment after 4 weeks or at least 6 doses. Check overseas assessment conditions separately from the clinic’s care policy.

Medication information

Side effects and symptoms to watch for

Besides nausea, headache, dizziness and diarrhea, fainting and orthostatic hypotension are important concerns. Avoid alcohol because it may increase neurocognitive effects and fainting risk.

When to stop and seek medical attention

For dizziness, lightheadedness or cold sweats, take a safe position, avoid driving or work at height and seek advice. Fainting, severe palpitations, or fever with tremor or confusion requires medical attention.

Medication information

Restrictions and interactions

Conditions prohibit combinations with MAO inhibitors, other SSRIs/SNRIs or antidepressants, serotonergic medicines or herbs, and strong CYP3A4 inhibitors. Check heart disease, fainting history, mania and liver disease. HPRA explicitly advises avoiding use in PDE5-inhibitor users; do not combine ED medicines yourself.

Medication information

Pregnancy, breastfeeding and patient precautions

The target is premature-ejaculation treatment in adult men. Do not give it to women or children.

Medication information

Additional care

Avoid alcohol and watch health status and lightheadedness before and after dosing. Do not stop an antidepressant yourself and switch to this medicine; consult your treating doctor.

Medication information

Storage and quality checks

Check storage instructions and expiry on the actual clinic product. Do not automatically apply Priligy instructions to Poxet packaging conditions.

Medication information

Differences from other medicines and treatments

Sildenafil and tadalafil treat ED, while dapoxetine concerns premature ejaculation. Coexistence does not justify a casual instruction to take them as a set. HPRA’s Priligy information advises against use with PDE5 inhibitors; ask the prescriber about combinations.

Medication information

Discussing consultation and prescribing with SWIFT

SWIFT’s official ED and premature-ejaculation page displays Poxet at JPY 1,500 per tablet. It describes the product as unapproved in Japan, personally imported by a doctor and outside the adverse-reaction relief system. HPRA’s Priligy information advises against use with PDE5 inhibitors; this article does not recommend the combination. Ask the doctor during consultation about the product strength and combinations.
