Vardenafil in Japan: ED Treatment, Directions and Safety
This guide to Vardenafil in Japan covers ED treatment, medicine interactions and cardiovascular safety. It separates medicine-specific information from the product and prescription checks needed for an individual consultation.
This page explains how Vardenafil works, its directions, limitations and safety. For prices and individual prescriptions, see SWIFT’s relevant care information.
Vardenafil is a PDE5 inhibitor for ED. It supports stimulated erections, but requires attention to nitrates, QT prolongation and specific concurrent medicines. Check heart disease and medicine history rather than selecting only by speed of onset.

What the medicine is
It reduces breakdown of cGMP increased by sexual stimulation and supports blood flow to the corpus cavernosum. It is not a libido enhancer. Levitra is an original brand name; this article concerns the ingredient and does not assume the clinic product is the original brand.

Treatment limitations and when diagnosis is needed
Response varies with food, health and stimulation. Claims such as fastest or strongest are not appropriate, and other ED medicines must not be combined for a weak response.
Formulations and basic directions
The approved Japanese directions usually give 10 mg approximately 1 hour before intercourse, no more than once daily and at least 24 hours apart. For patients aged 65 or older or with moderate liver impairment, the Japanese label specifies a starting dose of 5 mg and a maximum dose of 10 mg. Escalation to 20 mg has eligibility conditions; it is not a general self-escalation limit.

When to stop and seek medical attention
An erection lasting 4 hours or more or sudden vision loss requires prompt assessment. For chest pain, fainting or severe breathing difficulty, stop sexual activity, seek emergency care and provide the medicine name and dosing time.
Restrictions and interactions
It cannot be combined with nitrates/NO donors, riociguat and certain other medicines. Congenital QT prolongation, particular antiarrhythmics and strong CYP3A4 inhibitors are also relevant to contraindications. Disclose kidney impairment requiring dialysis, serious liver impairment, and recent myocardial infarction or stroke. Suitability varies by medicine, so show your medicine record.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding and patient precautions
It is used for ED in adult men. Do not give it to women or children.
Additional care
Record dosing conditions, alcohol, response and side effects for consultation. Do not stop heart or arrhythmia medicines yourself to use an ED medicine.
Storage and quality checks
The Japanese prescribing information specifies room-temperature storage. Check the actual clinic product label and expiry, and remove tablets from the blister sheet before taking them.
Differences from other medicines and treatments
Even though sildenafil and tadalafil are also PDE5 inhibitors, contraindications and interactions are not identical. Do not omit QT-prolongation precautions or translate dose numbers into a simple ranking of strength.
Discussing consultation and prescribing with SWIFT
SWIFT’s official ED page lists provision of a vardenafil product. Confirm the specific formulation, content and Japanese approval status before finalizing price and product explanations. Do not present the Japanese Sawai label as necessarily the label of the clinic’s product.
